The first black sociologist in America WEB Dubois wrote

"The Negroes in Connecticut and especially in the vicinity of New Haven has had an interesting and significant development." Dubois felt the connection of Yale University with the black community and their problems deserves thought and study. The relations of Yale University to the Black Community form a tremendous story involving the way in which a great center of intellectual effort in the United States approached the nation's most serious social problem.

This story has yet to be told until now.
